The Levy Group of Companies is seeking Plant Operators for our Columbia City Mill Service location in Columbia City, IN
. This position operates mobile equipment, slag processing plant, and maintains the plant, conveyor, crusher, and screens.
Pay: $23.00+ (based on experience)
Shift/
Schedule:
Tuesday‑Saturday, 7:00 am-5:00 pm

- Operate mobile equipment to feed plant
- Perform pre‑ and post‑operation inspections of plant and mobile equipment
- Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions
- Replace drive belts, jaw dies, screen decks, and maintain gear boxes and pulleys
- Ensure preventive maintenance and repairs are made on plant, secondary structures, related maintenance tools, and safety equipment
- Manage the startup and shut‑down process for the plant, conveyors, crushers, and related components
- Maintain housekeeping of yard and plant
- Inspect and monitor the plant and secondary structures to ensure safe and proper operation
- Determine proper settings for crusher and feeder
- Monitor the plant to ensure proper operations
- Monitor air emissions and take appropriate corrective action
- Adjust the plant based on production and plant performance data
- Ensure material production schedule is maintained
- Determine timing and control watering of stockpiles
- Check stockpile to ensure product quality and mix material to desired consistency
- Perform other projects as assigned by supervisor
- Ability to operate heavy mobile equipment and plant
- Mechanical aptitude with ability to identify mechanical malfunctions
- Ability to weld and burn
- Knowledge of plant equipment, conveyor systems, screens, and crushers
- Knowledge of materials and appropriate safety procedures
- High school diploma or equivalent
