Plasma Table Operator 2nd Shift (Fort Wayne, IN)
Summary :
Sets up and operates plasma cutting burntable to cut heavy gauge metal.
- Set up machine by retrieving and loading large heavy plates of steel using overhead crane, downloading program, entering parameters of job, selecting type of cut, and cutting first piece. Programs standard shapes.
- Operate burn table by monitoring cutting and adjusting heat in torches, pre-heat times, and pierce rate.
- Unload skeleton and parts using overhead crane, jib crane and/or magnets.
- Cleans and scrapes parts and cuts up scrap.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspection by checking material thickness and dimensions of part per blueprint using calipers, tape measure and calculator. Inspect parts according to C=O chart. Complete inspection form.
- Cleans burn table and performs minor preventative maintenance such as checking coolant levels and gases and changing or adjusting them as needed. Changes oxyfuel tips.
- Complete Plasma Table maintenance log.

Qualifications Education & Experience- High school diploma or GED.
- 1-2 years related experience and/or training. Blueprint knowledge preferred.
- Three to six months CNC machine operation experience in manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information to other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical DemandsEmployee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Additionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
