Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Sets up the assembly area by getting materials and tools using a forklift or overhead crane; positions parts according to assembly knowledge or from blueprint.
- Assembles large metal assemblies using hand tools to fasten parts with bolts, screws, rivets, and other fasteners; fastens rubber grommets, doors, tanks, skirts, and tread; taps out holes; grinds parts with a hand‑held grinder to achieve a close fit; assembles smaller assemblies into larger ones.
- Visually and physically inspects completed assemblies to ensure quality and security; completes an inspection form; uses forklift to transport the completed assembly to final inspection.
- Maintains assembly inventory using the Vantage computer system; notifies personnel for inventory adjustments or parts needed.
- Cleans and organizes the assembly area—returns parts to stock, removes trash and scrap, refiles prints.
- Packs assembled parts by wrapping, boxing, and/or banding as required.
- Assists the industrial painter in preparing parts for painting by operating a sander, grinder, and phosphate machine; moves parts in and out of the paint booth using a forklift.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications- Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED; 1–2 years of large assembly or mechanical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience; basic blueprint proficiency; prior computer experience; must complete forklift training and hold a valid forklift license. - Language

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively with customers or employees. - Math

Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization; interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. - Reasoning

Regularly uses hands to finger, handle, or feel. Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls; talks or hears; uses both feet to operate pedals. Occasionally sits and reaches with hands and arms. Occasionally lifts or moves up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work EnvironmentFrequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles; occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions; noise level is usually moderate.
