Position: COS Material Handler I

Johnstone Supply, North America's leading wholesale distributor of HVACR equipment, parts, and supplies, is looking for a COS Material Handler I. Responsibilities
  • Operate power equipment (electric pallet, walk‑ie rider, sit‑down forklift) to locate, put away, stack, and move checked‑in products to correct storage locations daily. Includes stocking, filling bins, facing cartons, checking for product mixing, rotating product, monitoring stock on shelves or bins, replenishing from reserves, and maintaining control of products in reserve and will‑call areas.
  • Unload products from trucks using forklift, pallet jack, electric pallet jack, or by hand.
  • Inspect freight for damage, verify quantity and packing lists, and complete required paperwork for reimbursements or discrepancies.
  • Ensure all required products have verified bar code labels and readable Johnstone stock numbers by scanning, printing labels, resolving discrepancies, and completing paperwork.
  • Pick products and pack items into cartons, stack them to minimize damage, scan items, and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Document the shipment of hazardous materials by labeling cartons correctly and completing required paperwork.
  • Prepare orders by loading pallets and pieces into trucks, palletizing and wrapping orders, placing packing lists in the last skid, and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Maintain current accuracy and efficiency standards and follow all standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in inventory cycle counts and related projects as assigned.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by working safely, following safety rules, maintaining equipment, keeping a clean area, and promptly reporting safety or maintenance concerns.
  • Wear protective equipment per company policies and access Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as needed.
  • Maintain required hazardous materials, forklift, and other internal and external certifications as needed.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers, treating everyone with helpful and courteous attitude.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education And/or Experience
  • Required:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 0–1 year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred:
    Experience with a picker, forklift, RF scanner, and inventory management systems.
  • Preferred:
    Knowledge of HVAC wholesale industry, principles, and practices.
  • Preferred:
    Previous experience with OSHA and safety regulations and procedures.
Certificates, Licenses, And Registrations
  • Forklift certification required, or willingness to obtain on the job.
