Contract-to-Hire | Fort Wayne, IN Area Quality Technician-CMM Operator
We are seeking a skilled Quality Technician to join a growing manufacturing team in the Fort Wayne area. This hands-on role is responsible for dimensional inspections, part layouts, calibration activities, and supporting quality initiatives throughout the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities- Perform dimensional inspections and part layouts to verify conformance to customer specifications and engineering drawings
- Operate FARO measurement equipment to inspect and validate manufactured components
- Execute, modify, and troubleshoot CMM inspection programs using Brown & Sharpe CMM equipment and PC-DMIS software
- Support first-piece inspections, prototype evaluations, and PPAP activities
- Conduct gage calibration, maintenance, and repair while maintaining accurate calibration records
- Assist with Gage R&R, linearity, and stability studies
- Generate inspection data and quality reports for management review and continuous improvement initiatives
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T requirements, and customer specifications
- Assist in developing and maintaining quality procedures, work instructions, and documentation
- Collaborate with Quality Engineers, Production personnel, and Management to resolve quality-related issues
- Support additional quality and inspection activities as needed
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Hands-on experience operating FARO measurement equipment required
- Experience with CMM inspection equipment required
- Experience with PC-DMIS software preferred
- Manufacturing, machining, fabrication, or quality experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
- Understanding of GD&T and dimensional inspection techniques
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer-based quality systems
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
