CNC Machinist Programmer - Prototyping, Tooling & Precision

Sabert is looking for a CNC Machinist Programmer to join our team!

Payrate: $23.50 - $41

• Accurately program supplied CAD models, machine and fabricate new products for the plastic thermoforming industry.
• Perform quality prototyping, assists, modifications, tool upgrades, repair of production tooling, test fixtures, jigs, and other support for the NPD department and manufacturing.
• Programming, part setup, tool calibration, cutting parameters, file management, and file storage management for all CNC functions and operations.
• Adhere to schedules to maximize CNC equipment utilization and adjust priorities as needed.
• Design and fabricate plugs, assists, jigs, and test components as requested.
• Perform polishing, venting, drilling, and tapping as required.
• Interface with designers, engineers, manufacturing, and shop personnel.
• Manually set up and operate Bridgeport milling machines, horizontal lathes, table saws, drill presses, and other standard tool shop equipment.
• Work with materials including aluminum, steel, Reshape polyurethane, epoxy, and syntactic foams.
• Maintain CNC machinery condition and inventory all tools needed for efficient operation.
• Ensure all new tools are inspected and meet specifications.
• Recommend improvements to reliability, shop speed, and process quality.
• Maintain metrics for programming and machine utilization and report to the tool room manager.
• Determine necessary purchases or replacements and submit requisitions for approval.
• Work consistently with established safety procedures.
• Fabricate new tooling and sampling efficiently and accurately in a safe, organized, and clean environment.
• Handle delivery and pickup of equipment, parts, and tools for repairs.
• Use hand and power tools as required.

• Proficient CNC programming and machining using Mastercam as the primary CAM software.
• Deep familiarity with G and M CNC programming and operation of CNC equipment.
• Machining skills in close tolerance lathe and mill work, reading blueprints, and utilization of measuring equipment such as dial calipers and micrometers.
• Comfortable with saws, table saws, and related shop equipment.

• Devoted work ethic with willingness to work extended hours when required.
• Technical understanding of Thermoforming Tooling and Equipment.
• Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
• Sense of urgency, thoroughness, and proactive innovation.
• Goal- and detail-oriented, safety and quality conscious.
• Strong reporting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to the department.
• Team player who works well with others.

• Lift up to 70 lbs.
• Good manual dexterity and mental alertness.
• Good vision and ability to retain new information and part names.
• Standing for 8+ hours a day and enduring occasional extreme heat temperatures.
• Ability to work in a continuous production environment.

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• 1‑5+ years of machinist experience.
• Mastercam experience is a plus.
