Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma, Operations Engineer
LER Tech Force is seeking an experienced Engineer, Material Flow to drive the planning, development, and continuous improvement of material flow operations across manufacturing and warehouse environments. This position plays a key role in optimizing factory logistics, improving material delivery performance, and supporting efficient production operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience in high-volume manufacturing, within the automotive industry, along with a solid understanding of material handling systems, logistics processes, and Lean manufacturing practices. Success in this role requires strong project leadership skills, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to manage initiatives from initial concept through implementation.
Responsibilities- Develop and enhance material flow strategies that support efficient movement of materials from warehouse operations to production areas.
- Implement and improve lineside replenishment processes, including eKanban and other automated material delivery systems.
- Create and maintain facility and material handling layouts that maximize warehouse and production floor utilization.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Logistics, IT, Quality, Purchasing, and Supplier teams to ensure material availability aligns with production requirements.
- Lead the implementation and optimization of pull-based inventory systems to maintain appropriate stock levels at point-of-use locations.
- Manage and maintain Plan for Every Part (PFEP) data, including packaging requirements, transportation methods, inventory levels, and delivery frequencies.
- Utilize simulation and analytical tools to identify bottlenecks, congestion risks, and potential material shortages.
- Lead the evaluation, selection, procurement, and deployment of material handling equipment, including forklifts, tuggers, AGVs, carts, racks, and automation solutions.
- Research emerging technologies and develop business cases to support material flow and warehouse improvement initiatives.
- Drive cost reduction and efficiency projects related to material presentation, space utilization, and workstation optimization.
- Apply Lean manufacturing principles to improve productivity through waste reduction, line balancing, and error-proofing techniques.
- Present recommendations, project updates, and capital investment proposals to leadership while supporting budget planning and execution.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience; master's degree with 6+ years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
- Experience in automotive manufacturing or other high-volume production environments.
- Demonstrated success designing and improving material flow processes within manufacturing and warehouse operations.
- Hands‑on experience implementing Lean manufacturing principles, including pull systems, Kanban/eKanban replenishment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of material handling systems and equipment, including evaluating, selecting, and launching solutions from concept through production support.
- Experience developing and maintaining material flow strategies, inventory replenishment methods, and point-of-use delivery systems.
- Familiarity with Plan for Every Part (PFEP) methodology, including packaging, inventory planning, transportation, and delivery optimization.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, ERP systems, simulation software, and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and process planning.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across manufacturing, logistics, purchasing, quality, and supplier teams.
- Ability to work independently while driving projects in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience with automated material delivery systems, including AGVs, AGCs, and other warehouse automation technologies.
- Knowledge of fork‑free material flow strategies, kitting operations, sequencing processes, and lean lineside material presentation.
- Experience utilizing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and material tracking technologies.
- Proven ability to identify opportunities for cost reduction, productivity improvements, and material flow optimization.
- Experience supporting facility layouts, warehouse design, and material flow simulation projects.
