Production Associate / Assembler

Location: Fort Wayne, IN

Pay: Starting at $22.28/hr, with opportunities to earn up to $24.53/hr through shift differential and cross‑training. Paid weekly on Fridays.

Shift Differential
  • Non‑Continuous (8‑hour): 2nd shift +$1.00/hr, 3rd shift +$1.25/hr
  • Continuous (12‑hour):
    Day shift +$0.35/hr, Night shift +$1.25/hr
Shifts
  • 12‑hour (2-2-3): Days 5:00am–5:30pm / Nights 5:00pm–5:30am (includes every other weekend)
  • 8‑hour (Mon‑Fri): 1st shift 6:00am–2:30pm / 2nd shift 2:00pm–10:30pm

Responsibilities
  • Remove jumpers and alongside, slide battery from layer board onto conveyor, aside hi‑rise lumber, maintain efficient production flow, stack off obvious rejects, remove process vents, top off according to specification, perform process and quality checks as specified, replace process vents with finish vents.
  • Polish terminals using appropriate hand or wire brush and remove residue from cover. Operate manual hirater or bitrode and/or OCV meter to test quality. Shrink‑wrap batteries as required. Use hand brander as needed.
  • Decorate batteries according to customer requirements. Retrieve specs from computer terminal. Maintain adequate decoration stock on line.
  • Stack off rejects to pallet. Palletize batteries to customer requirements utilizing BES procedures and equipment, maintaining accurate production counts and filling customer orders as complete as possible.
  • Participate in developing and improving Standard Work Practices for each area and consistently review them for effectiveness through team meetings and practice.
  • Service washer and dryer as necessary. Clean or wipe batteries as needed. Repair posts on batteries as needed. Keep work area clean and orderly, clean machines and area per shift and perform regular preventative maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred.
  • Ability to work 8‑hour or 12‑hour rotating shifts, including weekends.
  • Basic math, reading, and computer skills.
  • Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs. and performing repetitive physical tasks.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE (gloves, safety glasses, uniform, and safety boots).
  • U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident status required (no sponsorship available).
About the Plant

Our Fort Wayne, Indiana Distribution Center opened in 1999 and now employs more than 130 people. The site plays a critical role in charging, packaging, and shipping Clarios batteries used in cars, boats, motorcycles, and heavy‑duty trucks.
