Precision Toolroom Machinist (CNC/Manual) — Fort Wayne, INContract through 2026 with potential for contract-to-hire. Pay: up to $28.00/hour, commensurate with proven work history.

Your day-to-day on the night shift

As the go-to craftsperson for complex tooling, you’ll arrive to a clean setup list, review prints with GD&T callouts, and plan your path to hold ultra-tight tolerances. You’ll move between manual machines and CNC equipment, with a strong emphasis on lathe work. Frequent setup and teardown will keep the work varied as you manufacture, repair, and modify tooling, fixtures, dies, gauges, and precision components that keep production running smoothly with minimal downtime.

Schedule Training:
Required on 1st shift (approximately 3 weeks)
Regular shift: 3rd shift, 11:00 pm – 7:30 amWhat you’ll doSet up, adjust, and operate manual and CNC machine tools to build and repair tooling and precision parts

Execute frequent setup/teardown with an emphasis on lathe-based equipment

Prove out CNC programs, set offsets, and fine-tune tooling to meet stringent quality targets

Support production with accurate, reliable tooling that limits downtime

What you bring

Expert blueprint reading with strong GD&T fluency

Proficiency in manual machining in a toolroom environment

Knowledge of tool steels, heat treatment, and surface finish practices

Skilled with precision metrology: calipers, micrometers, and related inspection tools

Experience & education3–7 years in a toolroom or precision machining setting

Demonstrated success with tight-tolerance work (to +/- 0.0005" or as required)
Working understanding of CNC programming; ability to edit/upload at the machine

Setups on CNC mills and/or lathes, including program prove-outs, offsets, and tooling adjustments

Ability to manufacture/repair fixtures, dies, jigs, and special tooling

High School Diploma or GEDAbility to work independently and self-manage on off shifts
