The Die Technician is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Fort Wayne, IN. This role is responsible for building, assembling, maintaining, and repairing progressive stamping dies and related tooling to meet production and quality requirements. Day‑to‑day tasks include reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics, setting up and adjusting dies in presses, performing inspections and troubleshooting dimensional or performance issues, and conducting preventive maintenance on dies and tooling components.
The Die Technician collaborates with engineering and production teams to improve die performance, optimize processes, and support new product launches. The role also involves accurate documentation of work performed, adherence to safety standards, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with stamping dies, tooling, or precision metal components.
- Skills in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators).
- Skills in die assembly, adjustment, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating standard shop equipment such as grinders, mills, lathes, and other toolroom machinery.
- Problem‑solving, root cause analysis, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams to resolve production issues.
- Prior experience as a die technician, toolmaker, or similar role in metal stamping; an apprenticeship or technical certificate in tooling, machining, or industrial technology is preferred.
- Knowledge of industrial safety practices, familiarity with industrial control systems, basic computer skills for documentation, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, quality‑focused environment.
