Forklift Operator, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Material Handler
Position Overview
At Brunswick Fort Wayne Operations, we build high‑quality pontoon boats across multiple brands. The role involves ensuring safe material handling, equipment operation, and adherence to quality procedures as part of a collaborative team.
Essential Functions- Supports safe work practices and 5S.
- Operates powered industrial equipment, including forklifts, hoists, pallet jacks, yard spotters, and semis to load product onto trailers or containers. Certification required.
- Secures product for transport by following standard operating procedures.
- Cuts wooden rigging elements used in loading product.
- Constructs steel rigging and uprights necessary to haul specific loads.
- Utilizes saws and hand tools to construct shipping containers as needed.
- Communicates and coordinates with other departments.
- Reports supply needs, equipment breakdowns, shortages, and poor‑quality materials to supervisor or lead.
- Performs work to designated standard work/cycle times.
- Accurately completes required paperwork.
- Maintains equipment and work area, including monthly preventative maintenance, daily equipment inspections, and routine audits.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous forklift experience required.
- 1 to 3 years of heavy machinery movement preferred.
- Team player with strong communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented and capable of working independently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficient in reading blueprints, using a tape measure, and basic math skills.
- Additional certification may be required for specific work areas.
Employees frequently stand, lift 50–100 pounds, walk, push/pull, reach, and climb stairs. Tasks may include squatting, kneeling, and fine hand movements such as tightening screws and bolts. Vision requirements include close and peripheral vision with the ability to adjust focus. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, with seasonal exposure to extreme temperatures.
CompensationThe pay range is $21.00 – $22.00 per hour, subject to variation based on experience, qualifications, and business needs.
