.is seeking an
Environmental Technician
to join our team at the
GM Fort Wayne Plant
. This individual will be responsible for handling of solid and recyclable wastes.

Shift:3rd

Schedule:Thursday - Sunday morning 10:00 p.m.

- 6:30 a.m.There is also the potential for required Saturday overtime 2-3 times per month based on customer production.

Responsibilities and

Job Duties:
  • Separate line side recyclables per standards set by the Lead Resource Manager.
  • Collect trash, recyclables, hazardous waste, scrap metal and other waste streams throughout the plant and transports to disposal container or storage room.
  • Segregate, sort and package waste streams for off-site shipment.
  • Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxes for shipment to recycling centers and any other disposal site.
  • Document and inform Resource Manager of any contamination in plant’s recycling and waste containers.
  • Maintain necessary documentation of waste/recycling inventories, inspections and other activities as required.
  • Operate fork truck to load/unload trucks, etc.
  • Follow all plant-related safety guidelines.
  • Responsible for additional duties assigned.
Requirements and

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma and one year experience in waste management.
  • Previous experience handling/disposing of plastic andrecycling.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
  • Qualifications include the ability to read and understand basic equipment operating instructions, safe work protocols and adhere to the personal protection requirements of the assigned job.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA, desired); will be provided upon hire.
  • Current 40-hour HAZWOPER will be provided upon hire.
  • Current Fork Truck Operator Training (desired); will be provided upon hire.
