Maintenance Technician
This role supports a long-established metal fabrication and contract manufacturing facility by maintaining and repairing large production equipment. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, and keep CNC machines, PLCs, conveyors, lasers, and forming machines running safely and efficiently on a first-shift schedule.
Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance on large CNC machines, PLC-controlled equipment, conveyors, laser systems, and forming machines to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues on industrial machinery, identifying root causes and implementing effective repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including 480V circuits and 3-phase motors, following schematics and safety procedures.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, cylinders, and associated components.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair pneumatic systems, including air lines, valves, actuators, and related components.
- Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to guide troubleshooting and repair activities.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used to support accurate maintenance records and future diagnostics.
- Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize work, support smooth operations, and maintain a safe working environment.
- At least 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or similar industrial environment.
- Proven experience in both electrical and mechanical troubleshooting for industrial equipment.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting 480V electrical systems and 3-phase motors.
- Practical knowledge of hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Practical knowledge of pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance on industrial machinery and production equipment.
- Ability to read and work from schematics for electrical and mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated work history that reflects stability and reliability in previous roles.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience working in industrial or metal fabrication environments.
- Experience at similar manufacturing or fabrication companies is beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with production and maintenance teams.

The role offers a consistent 1st shift schedule, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 3:30 pm, with primarily 40-hour workweeks and clear expectations around occasional on-call duties with advance notice. The facility operates a first-shift schedule from Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a typical 40-hour workweek. Occasionally, you may be scheduled for on-call duty, with ample notice provided and additional compensation for being on call, whether or not you are called in. The environment is a metal fabrication and contract manufacturing setting that is kept clean for the type of work performed.
You will work around large CNC machines, PLC-controlled equipment, conveyors, laser systems, and forming machines. Personal protective equipment is required on the production floor, including steel-toe footwear, protective glasses, and ear plugs.
This is a Contract position based out of Fort Wayne, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
