Position Description
Science Central, a hands‑on science center (physical, natural and applied sciences), located within a large historical building, is currently hiring a creative, versatile, and eager‑to‑learn college student to serve as the organization’s social media intern. This position will assist the marketing manager.
Responsibilities- Creating social media posts
- Writing/laying out press releases
- Taking photos and videos, editing images and video content
- Completing graphic design projects for programs and events
- Updating the website
- Communication, writing, spelling and proofing skills
- Basic knowledge of advertising and marketing
- Graphic design experience
- Basic knowledge of website and social media design
- Ability to keep detailed notes and records of design and due dates
- Familiarity with graphics design packages such as Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator), Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher
- Communicative and team‑oriented
- Ability to partner with a wide variety of diverse colleagues
Pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, graphic design, English, or related field; successful completion of a Criminal Background Check is required.
ScheduleThe Marketing Intern will work 15-25 hours per week. Duration and internship hours are flexible to meet the student’s school requirements.
CompensationThis internship is an unpaid position. There is no housing or stipend offered by Science Central. Intern will work as a volunteer for the duration of the internship. A paid position is not guaranteed at the completion of the internship.
CreditScience Central is happy to provide necessary documentation for the student’s college credit.
