Director of Nursing (DON) – Allendale Behavioral Health
Location: Fort Wayne, IN
Setting: Inpatient Mental Health & Psychiatric Treatment
Position OverviewAllendale Behavioral Health is seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing team and oversee the delivery of high-quality patient care. This leadership role is responsible for directing nursing operations, ensuring clinical excellence, and collaborating with executive leadership to support patient outcomes and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily nursing operations and ensure high-quality patient care
- Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing staff, including the Assistant Director of Nursing
- Lead hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management for nursing team members
- Collaborate with Medical and Clinical Directors on treatment programming and compliance
- Monitor patient care quality, safety standards, and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, Title 42 CFR)
- Support patient care when needed, including medication administration and clinical oversight
- Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to nursing standards and protocols
- Respond to emergencies and oversee implementation of safety procedures
- Establish department goals and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in leadership meetings and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current RN license in the State of Indiana
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in addiction treatment, behavioral health, or clinical setting preferred
- Master’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage teams in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Combination of administrative duties and clinical support
- Periods of standing, walking, and computer work
- Ability to assist with patient care when needed
