Job Description
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations under guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician, ensuring donor eligibility, health, and safety while operating in compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies according to standard operating procedures.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical issues regarding donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and decide on further evaluation by occupational health or emergency response, referencing environmental, health, and safety guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations of pandemic threats in the local community as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs.
- Assist with center‑level environmental, health, and safety (EHS) support.
- High school diploma or equivalent; or recognized nursing education program with state requirements.
- Current LPN or LVN license or certification in the state where duties are performed.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- State‑mandated basic IV therapy training.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Minimum two years of clinical or hospital experience.
- Hourly wage range: $24.32 – $33.44 (based on experience, qualifications, location).
