Med​/Surg | RN Travel – Fort Wayne

Join an experienced acute-care team as a Travel Medical-Surgical RN in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This travel nursing opportunity is ideal for a skilled Med/Surg Registered Nurse who enjoys caring for diverse adult patients, collaborating across disciplines, and floating to medical units where support is most needed. • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
• Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Schedule: 36 hours per week; three 12-hour night shifts
• Shift: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Three weekend shifts within a four-week period
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5–6
• Charting: Epic electronic medical record
• Floating: Other medical units as needed
• Orientation: Hospital orientation, nursing orientation, and Epic training

• Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• At least 1.5 years of experience in a Level I, Level II, or tertiary-care hospital setting
• At least 1 year of Medical-Surgical RN experience in a large hospital with approximately 450 beds or more
• Recent experience caring for complex adult medical and surgical patients
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and meet the weekend scheduling requirement
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and interdisciplinary teamwork skills
• Ability to float between medical units and adapt to changing acute-care patient needs

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical diagnoses.
• Care for patients with conditions including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, pancreatitis, gastrointestinal bleeding, pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, stroke, dementia, traumatic brain injuries, and behavioral health concerns.
• Complete nursing assessments, develop and update individualized care plans, administer medications, and evaluate patient responses to treatment.
• Manage IV therapy, IV pumps, heparin and insulin infusions, feeding pumps, feeding tubes, wound vacs, chest tubes, telemetry monitoring, and other common medical-surgical equipment.
• Support patients undergoing or recovering from procedures such as colonoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, incision and drainage, biopsies, and amputations.
• Document accurately in Epic and use medication dispensing and point-of-care systems according to established standards.
• Communicate effectively with providers, therapists, support staff, patients, and families to promote safe, coordinated patient care.
• Float to other medical units and adapt quickly to changing patient care needs while maintaining quality and safety standards.
