Transfer Program Coordinator 40 hours per week

What You'll Do
You’ll coordinate lifesaving animal transfers, support rescue partnerships, and help connect animals with safe outcomes through adoption, foster, and rescue programs. This role blends customer service, logistics, animal care, and relationship-building - perfect for someone who loves both people and pets.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and schedule animal transfers with rescue partners, shelters, and adoption events
- Build and maintain relationships with rescue organizations and manage program communications
- Provide friendly, professional service to the public in person and by phone
- Handle animals safely and humanely, including behavior observation, documentation, and basic medical care such as vaccines
- Manage records, track animals in the shelter database, and complete required paperwork and adoption processing
- Guide and support volunteers assisting with weekend adoption and outreach events
- High school diploma or GED
- At least one year of experience in an animal-related or customer service environment
- Comfort handling animals of all sizes safely and compassionately
- Strong communication, organization, and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, emotionally rewarding environment
- Valid Driver's License (required for transporting animals using City vehicles)
- Animal handling or behavior training experience is a plus
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Ability to learn shelter management software (Chameleon or similar)
- Recordkeeping accuracy and attention to detail
