We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented EHS Coordinator to champion safety, health, and environmental compliance across our growing footprint. In this role, you will hold multi-site responsibility, uniquely bridging the gap between heavy industrial safety at our two manufacturing and warehouse sites and specialized biosafety protocols at our agricultural microbiology research laboratory.
Key Responsibilities Location- Multi-site oversight supporting 3 locations (2 Manufacturing/Warehouse facilities in Indiana / Iowa and a Microbiology Lab in Florida).
- Onsite in Logansport, IN or Fort Wayne, IN -Hybrid options may be available depending on the candidate/role.
- Regulatory Compliance:
Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state regulatory requirements. Ensure all standard operating procedures (SOPs) are compliant. - Training & Culture:
Design, schedule, and facilitate engaging safety orientation and refresher training programs for all employees, from production workers to research scientists. - Audits & Inspections:
Conduct routine safety walkthroughs, hazard assessments, and facility audits to proactively identify risk and implement corrective actions. - Incident Management:
Lead root-cause analysis investigations for any near-misses, injuries, or property damage, drafting timely incident reports and executing sustainable prevention strategies. - Workers' Compensation & Documentation:
Manage worker injury logs (OSHA 300 logs), handle worker's compensation claims, and act as the primary point of contact for external regulatory inspectors. - Develop SOPs and implement for new chemicals, equipment, and safety protocols, ensuring regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA) and reducing workplace incident rates.
- Chemical Safety & Haz Com:
Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all raw materials, liquid blend tanks, and finished fertilizer/biological products. Oversee clear chemical labeling and secondary containment protocols. - Industrial & Material Handling Safety:
Maintain strict safety protocols for warehouse traffic, including forklift certifications, loading dock safety, and proper pallet racking and storage practices. - Machine Guarding & LOTO:
Implement and audit comprehensive Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and machine guarding programs for automated liquid fill lines, jug-filling machinery, and packaging equipment.
- Biosafety & Microbial Handling:
Oversee laboratory biosafety levels (BSL) and proper handling protocols for beneficial, naturally occurring soil microorganisms and biological strains. - Laboratory Waste Management:
Manage compliant storage, treatment, and disposal of laboratory biological waste, spent agar/growth media, and chemical reagents in accordance with EPA and local regulations. - Lab Chemical Hygiene:
Maintain and update the Laboratory Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP), ensuring proper function of fume hoods, eye-wash stations, and secondary containment areas.
- Experience:
2-5 years of dedicated EHS experience. Experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment and/or a biological/chemical laboratory is highly preferred. - Regulatory Knowledge:
Solid foundation in OSHA general industry standards (29 CFR 1910) and EPA environmental waste standards. - Travel:
Ability to travel regularly between our three core facilities to maintain equal oversight and cultivate a unified safety culture. - Attributes:
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to build rapport with warehouse teams, plant managers, and laboratory scientists alike. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
