Job Summary

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for monitoring, testing, and maintaining pretreatment and e-coat systems to ensure optimal process performance, product quality, and environmental compliance. This role performs chemical analyses, system inspections, process adjustments, and documentation activities to support safe and efficient plant operations. The Laboratory Technician works closely with production and quality teams to maintain system integrity, resolve process issues, and ensure compliance with established procedures and standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform required titrations and chemical analyses on pretreatment and e-coat systems according to established procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain the integrity of pretreatment and e-coat systems to ensure consistent operational performance.
  • Evaluate system performance data and make necessary process adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Maintain inventory levels of pretreatment chemicals, laboratory supplies, and testing materials.
  • Verify and maintain proper e-coat rectifier settings to ensure optimum paint quality and system performance.
  • Conduct routine laboratory and process testing to verify system performance and product quality requirements.
  • Accurately document test results, process data, and system measurements in logs, charts, databases, and reports as defined by standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolving process, quality, and equipment-related issues.
  • Assist with calibration, maintenance, and upkeep of laboratory testing equipment.
  • Maintain laboratory and process areas in accordance with 5S principles, housekeeping requirements, and safety standards.
  • Follow all environmental, health, safety, and quality policies and procedures.
  • Support audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical procedures, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and data entry systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with pretreatment, e-coat, wastewater treatment, DI/RO systems, or related industrial processes.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience performing titrations and routine chemical testing.
  • Familiarity with environmental and regulatory compliance requirements.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to work around chemicals, tanks, pumps, and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and chemical-resistant gear.
  • Ability to work in laboratory and manufacturing environments with varying temperatures
