QUALITY MANAGER NEEDED - FT. WAYNE, INDIANA
A Leading Automotive Supplier in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area needs a Quality Manager. Prospective Candidates MUST have previous Tier 1 Automotive Quality Management Experience in a Manufacturing Plant Setting.
This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Paid Vacation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:This Quality Manager is responsible for driving Quality Systems from Prototype to Mass Production. This Leader ensures adherence to IATF 16949 Standards, Directs APQP / PPAP Processes, and Champions Continuous Improvement to deliver flawless components to OEM Customers.
- Lead and maintain the QMS in strict compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards.
- Manage all internal audits, customer audits, and third-party registrar audits, always ensuring audit readiness.
- Oversee document control, calibration of inspection equipment / gauges, and quality reporting systems.
- Verify dimensional requirements and part callouts using advanced measurement systems (e.g., CMM, Laser Scanning) and advanced GD&T Principles.
- Ensure compliance with Welding Codes; oversee Weld Testing and Inspection Documentation (WPS/PQR/WPQ).
- Validate error-proofing (poka-yoke) applications, torque verifications, and sub-assembly traceability protocols.
- Serve as the primary plant contact for customer quality concerns, leading 8D, 5-Why, and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) meetings to eliminate defects.
- Manage the incoming inspection program, track supplier PPM, and drive Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).
- Ensure strict adherence to customer-specific requirements (CSRs) to minimize customer disruptions and scrap.
- Mentor and develop a team of Quality Engineers, Quality Technicians, and Floor Inspectors.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing Principles and data analytics (Scrap, DPPM, Cost of Poor Quality) to identify and execute process improvements.
- Train production staff on inspection methods, quality standards, and defect identification.
Prospective Candidates MUST have previous Tier 1 Automotive Quality Management Experience in a Manufacturing Plant Setting.
- IATF 16949 QMS Expertise
- Experience with AIAG Core Tools including - APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC
- Knowledgeable with Customer Portals and Customer Specific Requirements (General Motors, Ford, Stellantis)
- Strong Background and Expertise in Metal Stamping and Welding (SPOT, GMAW etc.)
- GD&T and Metrology Interpretations
- Containment and Escalation Processes
- Leads Internal Audits (QMS, Manufacturing Process and Product, LPA)
