Position

Summary

Assistant Store Managers are the heart and soul of the Lids brand, fostering passion for sporting and fashion goods by meeting customer needs and ensuring the store operates at peak performance. They oversee store performance, create an inclusive environment for team members, and deliver exceptional customer service.

People & Training
  • Act as Manager on duty for employee scheduling issues, customer complaints, etc., when the Store Manager is not present.
  • Manage store associates through LIDS Training Programs, goal setting, and regular follow‑up.
  • Administer progressive discipline steps, including verbal and written warnings in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Engage team members by creating a fun and productive environment and helping them understand how their work supports company objectives.
  • Contribute to a respectful and inclusive team environment by establishing supportive working relationships and adhering to Lids Brand Standards.
  • Responsible for scheduling and staffing the store, including calling in associates for unexpected peaks.
  • Participate in LIDS Training Programs and adhere to set sales and task goals.
  • Assist in recruiting and training store personnel on proper operations and procedures.
  • Encourage store associates to comply with company policies, including safekeeping of inventory, funds, and property.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Customer Experience
  • Lead, execute, and assist Lids selling strategy to achieve KPIs and sales targets while delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Resolve customer feedback and address issues in the moment, including escalations and urgent requests.
  • Ensure every customer is offered the opportunity to participate in Lids membership programs or in‑store offers.
  • Adhere to visual merchandising guidelines, signage standards, and store cleanliness.
  • Maintain a professional appearance consistent with the Company Dress Code.
Operations
  • Execute operations‑focused company directives, promotions, and initiatives.
  • Understand and adhere to the Policies & Procedures Manual to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain store technology and equipment by conducting daily audits and facilitating updates or repairs.
  • Maintain store facilities, supplies, and services by executing service requests and replenishing supplies.
  • Effectively manage cash, including accurate opening and closing of the till and consistent bank drops.
  • Prepare the store for inventory audits and support during audits to confirm inventory accuracy.
  • Open and close the store as required following the Operations P&P Manual procedures.
Product & Inventory Management
  • Protect company assets within LIDS Retail policy guidelines.
  • Assist in preparing store work schedules that provide proper coverage while staying within wage control guidelines.
  • Accurately manage store inventory, including receiving, transferring, completing price changes, and conducting product counts.
  • Organize the backroom to maximize efficiency, arranging product and supplies to optimize space and productivity.
  • Execute optimal layout and visual merchandising strategies, managing window activations, hardware flips, mannequin flips, and seasonal or weekly merchandise changes.
  • Maintain the look and feel of the store through day‑to‑day VM and store actions, such as product recovery, restock, destock, or minor VM changes.
