The Store Director is responsible for all aspects of store operations and planning, ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers and a positive working environment for employees. The position requires adherence to all procedural guidelines and a comprehensive understanding of day‑to‑day store functions, financials, and personnel management.

Responsibilities
  • Work with all departments to ensure appropriate functioning and coordination of entire store operations.
  • Prepare weekly sales and labor projections, execute plans, and consistently achieve budgeted payroll percentages.
  • Oversee department managers, ensuring they meet labor cost goals, maintain hiring practices, schedule effectively, and train staff on policies and procedures.
  • Hire, develop, evaluate, and supervise department managers and store staff.
  • Account for department managers’ weekly schedules to keep them at or below budgeted payroll percentages.
  • Manage store financials and demonstrate full comprehension of the Profit & Loss statement.
  • Analyze company financial statements to inform daily operations.
  • Maintain store sanitation, cleanliness, and safety in accordance with local laws and best practices.
  • Monitor cash management, approve all store expenses before entry, and manage inventory counts and readiness.
  • Initiate weekly communications with support department directors to exchange business information.
  • Address customer issues, personnel situations, rewards, recognition, and policy violations.
  • Coordinate store events, sales flyers, merchandising plans, monthly inventories, and marketing promotions.
  • Oversee merchandising, loss prevention, and store appearance/conditions.
  • Anticipate highs and lows in business, solve problems, and adjust labor to respond accordingly.
  • Maintain a high level of product knowledge and preparation.
  • Regularly walk departments to ensure cleanliness and organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred; minimum of 6 years of professional experience required.
  • Preferred 5–7 years of grocery retail experience in overall store operations and merchandising.
  • Prior experience in a natural foods industry is a plus.
  • Maintain the highest level of customer service at all times.
  • Adaptable to high‑volume retail environments and cross‑functional team settings.
  • Initiative and judgment to resolve problems promptly.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various situations.
  • Advanced attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
  • Leadership ability to support and contribute to team goals.
  • Willingness to work varied hours/days as required by the business.
  • Knowledge of Health Department guidelines and regulations pertinent to a grocery retail environment.
  • Efficient planning and execution for results.
  • Ability to improve staff performance through motivation, training, and clear expectations.
  • Analytical skills to create action plans from financial statements.
Compensation and Benefits

Base salary ranges from $74,750.00 to $, with incentive bonus opportunities varying based on performance. Physical Demands and Work Conditions

The role requires standing for 1–8 hours, walking 2–8 hours, occasional bending, climbing, and reaching, as well as frequent handling of items weighing up to 10 lbs. Environmental conditions include operating in a grocery retail environment with variable temperatures.
