The Forest Products Trader – Engineered Wood Products is responsible for managing sales and program execution across assigned trading areas, with a primary focus on Engineered Wood Products (EWP), treated lumber, and related forest products. This role supports members by providing market insight, product guidance, and program leadership while driving participation, growth, and market share within the region.
This position requires a strong sales mindset, the ability to build trusted relationships with members and vendors, and the skill to navigate market conditions to support sound purchasing decisions.
While prior forest products or EWP experience is beneficial, it is not required. Candidates with experience in the Forest Products Industry, Commodity Trading, Lumber Trading, or Building Materials Sales are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities- Represent Do it Best and its members professionally while demonstrating strong negotiation, communication, and relationship‑building skills.
- Manage and promote Do it Best’s Engineered Wood Products (EWP) and Treated Lumber Programs to drive member adoption, growth, and market share.
- Engage in core Trader functions including order generation, confirmations, shipment coordination, and status reporting.
- Advise members on product sourcing and purchasing strategies by applying market awareness and program knowledge to deliver strong value propositions.
- Maintain consistent, proactive communication with members, focusing on relationship development, account growth, and regional engagement.
- Partner with vendors to support product availability, program execution, pricing alignment, and member satisfaction.
- Resolve Trader, Vendor, and Member issues including claims, conflicts, and service challenges using strong problem‑solving skills.
- Monitor regional activity and market conditions to support informed decision‑making and continuous program improvement.
- Travel to member locations, suppliers, and industry events as needed to strengthen relationships and expand market presence.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date information in company CRM systems, utilizing strong PC and Google Suite skills.
- Experience in forest products, EWP, lumber, commodity trading, or building materials sales preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of three years in a role requiring proactive problem‑solving, adaptability, and customer engagement.
