Head of Business Development

Our client is seeking a Director, Business Development for an excellent remote + travel position that can be located in the Midwest, Central, or Eastern U.S. near a major airport.

Responsibilities include:

• Analyzing new market segments to identify targets, competitors, and opportunities
• Responsible for all proactive outreach: cold-calling, email, in-person visits, trade shows, etc.
• Develop/execute tailored sales strategies promoting engineering, integration, and automation services
• Negotiate contracts, estimate materials and cost, close deals, and meet/exceed revenue targets
• Build/maintain long-term client relationships: follow-up, onboarding, coordinate initial orders
• Collaborate with executives, engineering, operations, and product teams on segment needs
• Report progress and performance to leadership

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Engineering, Marketing, or related
• 10+ years in business development, outside sales, account management, with 3+ years in the warehouse/supply chain automation industry.
• Prior experience successfully building a sales function and strategy, managing market/competitive analysis, and sales forecasting
• Proven success expanding into new markets/segments from scratch
• Ability to communicate and sell to Engineers and Business Executives. Prior experience as an engineer or project manager in automation a plus.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
• Proficiency in CRM (Salesforce preferred), Microsoft Office,
• Customer-centric focus with the ability to work independently and across a matrix organization.
