At PAH Management, the Sales Manager is responsible for planning, soliciting, booking, and coordinating group room sales to meet/exceed revenue/profit goals. This will be accomplished by achieving the goals and objectives set forth by the Regional Director of Sales and Revenue.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following is a representative list of duties and is not exhaustive. Other duties may be assigned.
Sales & Business Development
- Solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat business through various efforts (outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, referrals, networking, etc.) to maximize room revenue to meet/exceed goals.
- Conduct a professional, thorough site inspection of the hotel with clients, exhibiting key features and benefits of the property.
- Develop and continually enhance relationships with key corporate, business, and industry accounts to maintain and increase our market share.
- Participate in trade shows and community and professional organizations to maintain high visibility and the achievement of sales and revenue goals.
- Abide by Prime Selling Time (PST) and complete the required weekly sales activities.
- Develop strategies to increase share from competitors when the hotel revenue penetration goals are not being met.
- Develop a marketing strategy by analyzing historical, current and future hotel/market trends and creating selling strategies to capture the maximum amount of revenue and meet/exceed sales goals.
- React to negative trends in the marketplace by implementing blitzes or promotions.
- Research and complete the annual brand pricing RFPs by the required date.
- Notify/coordinate customer specifications with other departments and quickly, efficiently respond to customer issues, comments and problems to ensure quality experience and enhance future sales prospects.
- Maintain accurate, legible records and files to provide group history, ensure future and current quality service and enhance prospects by utilizing the required CRM software.
- Understand all GDS systems.
Reporting & Administrative Responsibilities
- Prepare and complete accurate end-of-month and annual reporting, according to PAH Management SOPs.
- Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned and participate in task forces and committees as requested.
What You Bring
Required:
- At least 4 years of progressive hotel sales experience; or a 4-year college degree and at least 3 years of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and at least 5 years of hotel sales experience.
- Must have previous DOS or Sales Manager experience
- Supervisory experience.
- Must have a valid driver’s license in the applicable state.
- Must be proficient in Windows, company-approved spreadsheets, and word processing.
Preferred:
- Experience with Delphi, CVENT, Kalibri Labs, STR or STAR reports, Marriott and Hilton sales systems, brand RFP platforms, GDS channels, and hotel property management systems.
- Knowledge of revenue management principles, segmentation, pricing, displacement, forecasting, budgeting, and hotel performance reporting.
- Previous work experience with Marriott or Hilton brands.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Local travel only.
- Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Attend all hotel-required meetings and training.
- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with PAH Management’s Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
