Commercial Facilities Engineer Job Description
The Facilities Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the inspection, operation, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and kitchen equipment across assigned facilities. This position operates both independently and in collaboration with Mobile Engineers, HVAC/R Technicians, and Control Systems Technicians to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of building systems.
Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance on lighting systems, including bulb and ballast replacement.
- Support the operations team with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining building systems and equipment.
- Conduct general interior maintenance, including HVAC/R coil cleaning, evaporator coil cleaning, and servicing kitchen equipment such as meat grinders, cubers, slicers, and saws.
- Complete minor plumbing repairs and assist with basic electrical tasks.
- Execute special projects such as painting, locksmith tasks, tenant service requests, and other general maintenance assignments.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while adhering to all safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
- Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions to eliminate safety risks.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable State, County, and City codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Follow all policies related to the safe storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational training programs.
- Document work performed, materials used, and procurement activities as required.
- Remain available for after-hours on-call emergencies.
- Perform additional duties typically associated with the Maintenance Mechanic role.

- Valid state driver's license
- Minimum of one year of experience in general building maintenance, including basic plumbing and electrical work
- Ability to lift at least 80 lbs., climb ladders up to 30 ft., and perform frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting, and driving
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Compliance with all policies and procedures
- Successful completion of background check, drug/alcohol screening, and MVR review

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Wayne, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
