Job OverviewThe Field Service Technician for Ingersoll Rand’s Compression Systems and Services Division serves customers by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all makes of rotary screw and reciprocating, Centac, and ECC air compressors, along with additional compressed air system components. You will use precision measuring tools for diagnostic troubleshooting of compressed air equipment and possess knowledge of operation and parts manuals for all equipment.
Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance on compressed air equipment and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Interact with customers to address existing and unanticipated equipment concerns.
- Coordinate with the Service Coordinator to order and gather parts and supplies necessary for installations and repairs.
- Assist and train apprentices and other field service technicians.
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers and co‑workers.
- Provide technical assistance on equipment pre‑commissioning, start‑ups, installations, and repairs as needed.
- Educate customers on Ingersoll Rand products, services, and solutions such as preventive maintenance, diagnostics, audits, and leak detection to improve operations.
- 2+ years of experience troubleshooting industrial/commercial mechanical systems.
- Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months with a clean driving record (no major violations such as DUI in the previous 5 years, hit & run, license suspension, reckless or multiple infractions in the previous 3 years).
- Availability to be on‑call (24/7 for 1‑week durations) as required; not on‑call during the first 90 days.
- Physical ability to use hands and fingers, walk, stoop, kneel, and regularly lift or move weight in accordance with safety policy.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Read wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment.
- Advanced network systems installations (IMMC/ASC, X Series Automation).
- Basic vibration troubleshooting.
- Basic air quality handling (system compressor/dryer – air treatment).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and other basic computer usage; working proficiency with handheld computers (smartphone, iPad) and networks.
- Maintain proper business travel practices in a cost‑efficient manner.
- Industrial air compressor maintenance and knowledge.
- EPA certification.
- Veteran/Active‑Duty Military status encouraged to apply.
- Service technicians will travel daily within a 3‑hour radius of service area.
- Company vehicle and fuel card will be provided.
