Mobile Diesel Technician Level II
Responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, and advanced diagnostics under the supervision of a senior mobile diesel technician or higher. Maintains high performance metrics and complies with all company policies.
Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Make minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment using handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other test instruments.
- Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper functioning.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to identify malfunctions.
- Use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives for problem resolution.
- Independently manage parts inventory and reconcile as needed.
- Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, including safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
- Work with and listen to clients to assess their needs and resolve issues.
- Prioritize concurrent tasks and allocate time effectively.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work in Repair Orders (“RO”) on the company iOS device and TRAIT application, uploading photos of work performed and parts used.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and all other required documentation promptly.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, managing own daily schedule.
- Maintain productivity, meeting or exceeding most Standard Repair Times.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary.
- Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone for approvals, purchase orders, and RO findings.
- Perform all work in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other safety, health, and environmental policies.
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of experience in a related field (or an alternative combination of education and 5 years of experience).
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
- Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
- Successfully complete DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening, DOT physical, and maintain a valid DOT medical card with at least four months remaining.
- Be at least 21 years old and hold a valid state driver’s license and Driver Qualification File.
- Safe drivers required.
