Life Safety Installation Technician
The Life Safety Installation Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and service of professional audio, video, control systems, professional lighting, and electronic equipment related to the Systems Integration Industry. The associate is responsible for completing projects in the most efficient and effective manner, ensuring all work meets the highest quality standards set by the company while maintaining a safe working environment.
PrimaryDuties
- Read and understand the Systems Integration installation process.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
- Fabricate and terminate cabling, rack prep, multi-pins, and electronic equipment racks for integration of professional, audio, video, lighting, and computer-controlled systems.
- Assist with preventive maintenance of external and internal customer equipment.
- Respond promptly to all customer service-related issues.
- Maintain accurate service installation tickets and inventory records.
- Use company software daily to manage work tasks.
- Work safely and positively, showing respect to others and contributing to the team.
- Fully comply with company and customer safety programs.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to pull and terminate cabling (e.g., CAT6/A, audio XLR/3.5, terminal blocks, RS-232).
- Proficient with spectrum analyzers, multimeters, impedance meters, general hand tools, and wall fasteners.
- Responsible, customer‑service oriented, personable, and well‑organized.
- Superior customer service skills for both internal and external customers.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills; can work with diverse groups.
- Proficiency with PC or Apple computers, including MS Office.
- Planning, organizing, and implementing skills to complete projects by specific due dates.
- Ability to handle stressful situations effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret general business documentation.
- Required to stand, walk, climb, sit, and use hands and fingers.
- Reaching, grasping, and carrying activities are also required.
- Occasional work outside may involve seasonal temperature fluctuations.
- Must be able to work at K‑12 schools.
- Must be able to work on construction sites.
- Valid and current driver’s license.
- Must have a smartphone capable of running Microsoft Company Portal and other required apps.
- 1–5 years of experience in AV, security, or electrical installation.
- Preferred but not required: CTS certification, NICET FAS, Genetec, AXIS.
Work is conducted in a shop, on construction sites, in finished spaces, and outdoors as required.
Expected Hours of WorkTypical work hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; other shifts, including weekends and overtime, may be required to meet deadlines and accommodate client needs.
TravelOut‑of‑town and overnight travel to clients’ sites may be required.
Physical Demands- Stand on a concrete floor for extended periods and lift or move equipment at least 60 pounds repeatedly.
- Lift equipment and construction supplies from floor height to overhead while loading/unloading trucks or preparing equipment for installations, service calls, and events.
- Climb and work at heights over 25 ft during installations and job sites.
