Field/Service Technician, Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Adecco has partnered with a premier mobile mechanic service company in need of full-time mobile technician working in the South Bend/Fort Wayne areas. The technician will need to have strong skills in electrical controls, hydraulics, and at least some knowledge and experience in structural welding. This position is responsible for the repairing and maintaining of Trash Compactors, Recycle Balers, Truck Docks, and other material handling equipment.
Applicants must be able to lift heavy objects as needed and be willing to work outdoors all seasons of the year.
1st Shift Monday – Friday, occasional Saturday, NO Sundays; minimum 7:30am-5:00pm
$22-$32/hour based on experience and job competence
Required Job Functions- Travel to designated locations to troubleshoot, inspect, and repair mechanical and electrical issues on-site.
- Perform scheduled logbook services, fluid changes (coolant, oil, transmission), filter replacements, and tire/wheel services.
- Explain repair needs clearly to clients, provide accurate estimates, and process payments upon job completion.
- Maintain, secure, and organize spare parts, hand tools, and heavy diagnostic equipment on the company service truck.
- Complete and submit accurate service reports, log sheets, and maintenance records after every job.
- Observe all safety protocols and traffic laws, and maintain the service vehicle in safe operating condition.
- Requires a minimum of 2 to 5 years of formal automotive or diesel repair, electrical, hydraulics, and MIG Welding/Fabrication experience.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills are necessary, as you operate in the public eye without the buffer of a traditional service desk.
