Journeyman Electrician

Under the direction of the Plant Facilities Manager, the Journeyman Electrician monitors and maintains all electrical equipment, lighting, assists in telecommunication/data, snow removal, and general maintenance of the complex which is comprised of the Arena, Expo's, and Conference Center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for the upkeep of day-to-day operations and making sure electrical requests for events are completed.
Maintains electrical panels, lighting equipment, electrical components, and monitors/service generator equipment.
Assist with maintaining boilers, chillers, air handlers, air compressors, ice making equipment, fire systems, and any other related equipment through daily inspections and/or computer analysis adjustments. Routine parts repair or replacement is performed as needed.
Assist/Complete pulling fiber and CAT cabling, able to terminate CAT 5/6 cable, able to patch in networks through in house patch panels.
Plans, directs and participates in the preventive maintenance program for all systems related to equipment and the general maintenance of the Arena, Expo's and Conference Center.
Train part-time employees and determine work priorities as well as assigns duties.
Assist with fire alarm installation/troubleshooting
Consults with manufacture representatives and engineers to maintain and acquire knowledge of new equipment and procedures.
Orders and maintains inventory of equipment and repair parts.
Assists with preparing specifications for new equipment, reviews bids and supervises installation of new equipment.
Assists with resolving periodic issues due to inspection throughout the building enforced/conducted by state agencies and insurance company representatives
Assists with snow removal during the winter months.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Ensures Electrical and Fire codes are followed
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED
Journeyman's license (which requires a minimum of 5 years' experience)
Extensive knowledge of Electrical Codes and NFPA Codes
Ability to troubleshoot major and minor issues
Ability to navigate on a computer (ex. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
REQUIREMENTS (continued):
Ability to use a variety of tools, meters and schematics to troubleshoot all electrical and electronic equipment
Ability to work with little to no supervision
Extensive knowledge of and the ability to diagnose problems, repair and/or replace electric/electronic controls, boilers, chillers, air handling units, pumps, ac inverters and units
Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to train others to complete tasks and projects
Strong supervisory skills
Ability to operate heavy equipment
DIFFICULTY OF WORK:
The Journeyman Electrician performs work that is complex and varied when maintaining various electrical equipment which includes the HVAC system and fire system. The ability and skill to use a variety of equipment and machinery and the ability to plan and lay out work to complete tasks and projects on time is required.
RESPONSIBILITY:
The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for a variety of different operations to complete tasks. A high degree of accuracy is required to protect tools and materials to help prevent injury to others. Technical manuals and work precedents are used to perform work.
PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
The Journeyman Electrician maintains frequent contact with other County employees, various manufacturing representatives and engineers as well as general public regarding Electrical systems and related equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Journeyman Electrician works in an Arena facility requiring frequent walking, some sitting and standing and frequent lifting up to forty pounds and pushing and/or pulling loads. Very frequent bending, reaching overhead, kneeling, crawling and climbing ladders are required including working at heights up to 150 feet above the ground and on catwalks. The Journeyman Electrician must have the ability to type including proofreading, attention to detail, monitoring equipment and detailed inspection is required.
The Journeyman Electrician is required to work outdoors during extreme weather conditions with exposure to dirt, grease, slippery surfaces and high and low temperatures. Safety precautions must be observed at all times to ensure safety of self and others.

HOURS:
7:00 am
-3:00 pm normal working hours. Must be available to work event shifts which varies depending on each event that includes working nights, weekends, and holidays. On-call 24/7 in case of any emergencies that may emerge.
