Job Summary:
1) Work with building teams to help identify students who are in need of emotional support and help identify additional supportive services in school.
2) Collaborate with families in connecting them with community resources and services as needed.
3) Serve on Student Support teams across the district to identify students at risk socially, emotionally, or academically.
4) Serve as a consultant and liaison between child welfare agencies, community agencies and the district.
5) Conduct home visits to investigate cases of educational neglect or to gather information related to psychosocial assessments.
4) Develop needs assessments to support students, families, and staff.
5) Train staff on recognizing and reporting child abuse, suicide prevention, and bullying as defined by Indiana statute.
6) Provide individual and/or group counseling in response to school-wide crises.
7) Conduct parent conferences to resolve attendance and/or social service issues in collaboration with building principals and guidance counselors.
8) Report suspected child abuse in collaboration with building principals and guidance counselors.
9) Articulate the function of a school social worker to various stakeholders through verbal and written communication.
10) Provide staff training on whole child development, mental health and child welfare matters as requested by administration and staff.
Qualifications: Master's Degree in Social Work with an Indiana State License in Social Work (LSW). This position will provide in-school therapy to students who qualify. If the selected candidate is not a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, then clinical supervision may be provided by the NACS District Social Worker who holds an LCSW.
Working Conditions: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with the state of Indiana. A
person in this position will be required to drive to and conduct home visits. A person in this position will be required to serve multiple buildings.
