Position Summary
Goodwill Industries of Northeast Indiana seeks a part‑time Student Transition Coordinator to collaborate with school districts in DeKalb, Noble, and Steuben counties. The role may evolve into a full‑time position.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and document the functions and programming of the Pre‑Employment Transition Services program.
- Collaborate with the VP of Transition Services to review and ensure compliance with VR program and contract requirements.
- Standardize the delivery of services for the Pre‑ETS process, including the use of technology and software to facilitate remote services.
- Creatively engage students with curriculum and activities that promote growth in five core service areas; formulate teaching outlines and determine appropriate instruction methods; select or develop teaching aids such as handouts, PowerPoint presentations, and workbooks.
- Create, document, and maintain forms and records used for Pre‑ETS services, including methods of tracking activities, students, and schools.
- Coordinate Pre‑Employment Services with assigned area school systems.
- Work closely with school administration, teachers, and other Student Transition Coordinators to determine programming and appropriate curriculum for Pre‑Employment Transition Services.
- Assist in selecting candidates for the Pre‑Employment Transition Services programs.
- Complete all required documentation, reports, paperwork, and billing for selected students and services accurately and in a timely manner.
- Attend student/parent case conferences when appropriate.
- Provide Pre‑Employment Services to students in individual and/or group settings, including job exploration counseling, work‑based learning experiences, counseling on opportunities for post‑secondary education, workplace readiness training, and instruction on self‑advocacy.
- Identify the individual needs of each student and create a portfolio to document work readiness and accomplishments for potential employers.
- Market students’ work‑based learning experiences to area businesses through direct mailings/emails, personal/phone presentations, relationship building, and networking.
- Maintain relationships with area work‑based learning experience site employers.
- Create and maintain summer programs for students outside the regular school year.
- Test trainees and students to measure progress and evaluate the effectiveness of training, documenting all training.
- Conduct on‑site observations of individuals enrolled in work assessment/evaluation components and provide required written reports; evaluate and provide feedback to program participants.
- Meet with the client’s/students’ work site supervisor to discuss and document performance and program progress.
- Provide support services such as job‑seeking skills, bus training or other transportation assistance, advocacy, referral services, and crisis intervention.
- Interact cooperatively with co‑workers and referral sources to ensure smooth delivery of services.
- Follow all safety rules and practices.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management in carrying out Goodwill Industries’ mission.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, or 1–3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with area employers for work‑based learning experiences.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in using a smartphone and laptop computer.
- Must pass a background check and have a valid driver’s license with a suitable driving record.

- Proficiency with computer systems, including Apple and Google products.
- Ability to work within a team concept.
- Ability to work efficiently and in an organized manner.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Proof of insurance for a personal vehicle at approved levels (100/300,000 liability; 50,000 property damage).
- Suitable driving record and insurability by Goodwill Industries’ insurance carrier.
- Subject to random alcohol and drug testing as specified in the Drug‑Free Workplace Program.
- Full compliance with Goodwill’s Code of Ethics.
