Position: Senior Cryptographic Software Engineer- Active Secret (Onsite)

Location:

1010 Production Rd, BLDG 150A, Ft Wayne, IN 48016 (USA). Role:
Onsite U.S. Citizen or U.S. Person required. A transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance is required before start date. U.S. citizenship is mandatory for eligibility for clearance.

Job Overview:
The Crypto team in the Software Technologies directorate develops advanced embedded cryptographic capabilities for U.S. military communications products. Working with the NSA, the team ensures resilient and secure communications through close collaboration with hardware, FPGA, and software groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead embedded software development and integration, designing advanced cryptographic solutions and communication products aligned with project goals.
  • Architect scalable, secure, multi‑threaded embedded C++ or Rust codebases, advancing software architecture through innovative solutions.
  • Drive project execution by collaborating with cross‑functional teams to define requirements, implement software, oversee test‑case development, verification test execution, and certification support.
  • Mentor and empower fellow developers, enhancing technical proficiency and process optimization while fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Enhance product security and reliability, playing a pivotal role in strengthening critical communications infrastructure.
What You Will Learn
  • Hands‑on experience designing, developing, integrating, and verifying embedded encryption algorithms.
  • Advanced proficiency in C++, Python, and embedded Linux through practical application.
  • Insight into secure systems and software development principles within a supportive, agile team environment.
  • Understanding of cryptographic applications and their implementation and implications.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in software engineering or an advanced degree in a STEM field with at least 3 years of experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance prior to start date.
  • Proficiency in C++ or Rust, Python, and embedded Linux.
  • Experience with secure systems, secure software development, or cryptographic applications is preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with crypto system requirement capture, design formulation, algorithm implementation, and verification & validation of crypto system functional and security requirements.
  • Developing artifacts to support certification of crypto systems and components.
  • Knowledge of Information Assurance and/or Cybersecurity industry standards of practice.
  • Technical or project leadership experience ensuring successful project execution.
  • Experience with high‑level programming languages (C++, C#, Java, Rust, Ada, VHDL) and hardware‑software integration in real‑time embedded systems.
