Position Overview
Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking a Software Engineer II to work on the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) International programs as part of the Software Engineering department at our Fort Wayne, Indiana office site. This role involves developing implementation of software requirements for various Fire Support Command and Control (C2) software products, including future advanced battlefield capabilities.
Responsibilities- Implement AFATDS software capabilities for new and updated requirements.
- Identify, analyze, and remediate bugs in existing AFATDS software.
- Path find future software capabilities involving AI toolsets and algorithms.
- Work with a technical mentor utilizing a defined project plan and milestones.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Development of Fire Support C2 software in Ada and Java.
- Experience with one or more build tools / IDEs (e.g. CMake, make, Visual Studio, VS Code).
- Proficiency in development workflow tools such as JIRA, Git, Subversion, Docker, and requirements management applications.
- Object‑oriented programming in C++ or Java.
- A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field.
- Active and transferable Secret U.S. government‑issued security clearance required prior to start date.
- AI/ML, Data Science, and software development experience.
