Recreation Coordinator – 50+ Senior Games
Schedule:
March–April 20 hrs/week | May–July up to 40 hrs/week | August–October 20 hrs/week (hours vary based on event schedule)

What You'll DoUnder the direction of the Community Center Manager, you will plan, organize, and execute the City of Fort Wayne's 50+ Senior Games from start to finish. You’ll coordinate events, volunteers, venues, logistics, and results while ensuring every participant has a safe, welcoming, and memorable experience. From registration to awards banquet, you help create a season participants look forward to all year.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, schedule, and coordinate all Senior Games events, venues, and logistics
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers and event coordinators
- Prepare equipment, supplies, registration materials, and participant records
- Track attendance, scores, and results and compile final reports and evaluations
- Coordinate marketing materials, ceremonies, awards, and participant communications
- Two years post‑high school education in Physical Education, Leisure Studies, Recreation, or related field - OR two years experience in recreation programming or event coordination
- Strong organizational, communication, and time‑management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community partners
- Detail‑oriented with initiative and a positive, outgoing approach
- Valid Indiana Driver’s License (if operating City vehicle)
- First Aid and CPR certification within two weeks of hire (provided by City)
- Microsoft Office and Teams proficiency
- Ability to manage schedules, spreadsheets, participant tracking, and event documentation
