SUMMARY
Requisition s transportation from traffic manager to shipping Deister products to customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Adhere to all ISO requirements as stated in the Management Systems Procedures Manual.
- Wear safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection at all times.
- Read shipping orders to determine quantity and type of transportation needed.
- Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
- Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or select preassembled containers.
- Insert items into containers.
- Secure wooden crates and bind containers with tape or metal bands.
- Stamp or stencil weights onto containers.
- Weigh and record all screens, crates, and boxes.
- Load screens and/or crates onto trucks and ensure that load is safely secured.
- Operate forklift, handtruck, or overhead hoists to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage/work area, company, customer, or vendor truck.
- Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and issue instructions for loading products.
- Annotate shipping orders to inform shipping department of loading location and time of arrival of transportation.
- Complete Bill of Laden with customer information, weights, sizes, and quantities.
- Deliver parts to airport, trucking companies, or others as required.
- Perform other clerical tasks such as maintaining appropriate files.
- Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS- Must be forklift certified.
- Must have valid Indiana's driver’s license.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
