Location:

Minimum 30 hours a week over five days (to include some evenings and weekends). Permanent Position.

Overview

Highland Cinema is looking for a capable, experienced and enthusiastic full‑time Front of House Duty Manager, to join as one of our three key Duty Managers. If you have the ability to work, manage and lead in a fast‑paced hospitality environment, a passion for customer service, and the ability to stay cool under pressure, we’d like to hear from you!
Candidates should ideally already be bar and / or barista trained. However, training will be given for the right applicant.

Duties and responsibilities
  • To lead, motivate and manage the Front of House crew when on shift, including bar, box office and floor staff, ensuring all day‑to‑day areas of operation runs smoothly.
  • To ensure excellent customer service at all times.
  • To take a hands‑on approach, using your initiative to manage and adapt staff and operations as necessary, with the customer experience always the primary driver.
  • To be a great communicator and able to act as a point of escalation for any customer queries / complaints, when you are the most senior employee on shift.
  • To ensure the appearance of areas within Highland Cinema are maintained and presented to a high standard at all times.
  • To foster and encourage a happy work environment for all.
  • To regularly liaise with other Duty Managers, the General Manager and wider management team, to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • To assist in making and receiving orders, maintaining strict stock controls and undertaking regular stock takes as required.
  • To be responsible for the preparation and running of shifts, including opening or shutting the building down correctly at the beginning or end of a day, following all cleaning, till management and security procedures.
  • To assist in the delivery of Highland Cinema events as required.
  • To be involved in the recruitment of new crew when needed, and to help induct and train new staff.
  • To identify areas for improvement, and help implement change as required.
  • To ensure health and hygiene is maintained to the highest order and to oversee the implementation of rigorous cleaning schedules.
  • To ensure compliance with all relevant Highland Cinema safety policies and procedures.
  • To undertake any such duties as may be reasonably requested and that are commensurate with the nature and level of this post.

Essential Experience and Competencies
  • Strong leadership, motivational and people skills.
  • Proven experience in a hospitality environment.
  • Flexible, adaptable, ‘can‑do’ attitude.
  • Articulate and a good communicator.
  • The maturity and responsibility to sometimes be the only manager on site.
Organisational responsibility

This position requires a close working relationship with two other existing Duty Managers, and reports to the General Manager. Salary details
  • £14.50/hour plus uniform, share of the tips and free cinema tickets.
  • Statutory holiday entitlement.
