About the Opportunity
We're recruiting on behalf of a business delivering major renewable energy infrastructure in the Scottish Highlands. They need an experienced Ecological Clerk of Works to support the construction phase of a live project.
As ECoW, you'll be the main ecological advisor to the construction team. You'll provide on-site oversight and make sure habitats and protected species are safeguarded throughout the build.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor construction activity for compliance with ecological legislation, planning conditions, permits, licences and method statements
Supervise works in or next to sensitive ecological areas, including vegetation clearance, earthworks and habitat management
Assess and manage ecological risk to protected species, including bats, breeding birds, badgers, reptiles, great crested newts, otters and water voles
Deliver toolbox talks and site briefings on ecological constraints and best practice
Keep detailed site records, inspection reports and photographic evidence, and produce visit reports covering findings and actions
Liaise with project managers, contractors and other environmental and engineering disciplines to ensure compliance across the site
About You
Essential
Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Conservation Biology or a related discipline
CIEEM membership (Associate, Full or Chartered)
Demonstrable ECoW experience on construction, infrastructure, utilities or civil engineering projects
Strong working knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and protected species mitigation
Full UK driving licence and CSCS card (or equivalent)
Desirable
Experience in highways, rail, energy, water, utilities or renewables
Chartered Ecologist (CEcol) status
Protected species survey licences
SMSTS/SSSTS
First Aid at Work
