Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for areas relating to coordination of accounting/financial compliance within the assigned operating units. The position is responsible for reviewing and providing support for various accounting activities, including general ledger, job costing and inventory in the assigned locations. The position shares responsibility for Fixed Asset, Internal Audit, External Audit, insurance renewal and audit, and other matters for assigned operating units in our region which currently includes 13 offices across multiple states.
Job Functions:
• Participate with Regional Controller's to ensure the proper accounting and financial activities that are necessary for the successful operation of the company
• Reconcile various GL accounts and monitor outstanding items
• Monthly review of general ledger activities
• Coordinate job cost reviews
• Prepare month end financial reports
• Maintain clean accounting and financial records of applicable duties
• Prepare sales tax returns and remittances
• Prepare payroll tax returns and remittances
• Assist with internal and external audit requests
• Assist with insurance renewal
• Assist with insurance audit
• Advise staff regarding daily issues and handling of non-routine reporting transactions
• Assist in completion of special projects Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Essential):
• Bachelor's degree in accounting
• Superb verbal, written, interpersonal and listening skills
• Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in accounting-related position
• Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems
• Knowledge of computer systems, Word, Excel and proficiency using 10-key adding machine
• Ability to handle multiple tasks Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Desirable):
