Controller, Accounting, Financial Reporting

Overview

Commercial construction company is seeking an experienced Controller with 5+ years of management experience within commercial construction. Salary: $160,000 - $175,000 per year. After 40+ years in business, we have established ourselves as a leader in our specialty within the commercial construction arena, serving clients in manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, and industrial sectors.

• Reporting to the CFO, maintain financial procedures and confirm financial compliance through preparation of the company’s reports and statements.
• Manage the accounting team and the ERP system.
• Assist with the Monthly Closing of all entities, including reconciliation of bank accounts and general ledger accounts, and analysis of discrepancies.
• Record and reconcile credit card accounts; maintain bank note schedules and reconciliations.
• Process AR deposits and record them in the ERP; maintain thorough and accurate files in accordance with company policy and accounting practices.
• Conduct account reconciliation reviews and resolution of aging items; oversee 3rd party claims with insurance companies.
• Perform quarterly balance sheet and P&L fluctuation analysis; review and analyze financial data from various revenue sources.
• Collaborate with banking institutions to open accounts, order checks, and set up online access.
• Job Costing:
  Prepare pre-lien filings for construction projects; prepare supplier lien waivers and track to ensure timely receipt; oversee setup of new jobs and ensure estimates are set up in the ERP; manage fixed asset accounting; process asset requisitions.
• Annual Closing:
  Prepare financial plans and rolling forecasts; prepare financial statements and reporting to statutory entities; prepare materials for external auditors and assist as needed.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• 5+ years of commercial construction accounting management experience
• Job costing
• WIP reporting
• Strong ERP experience
• Ability to own and manage month-end close process
