Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Finance plays a key leadership role in supporting the Controller and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Accounting department. This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the hotel s financial reporting, ensuring compliance with Hyatt standards and internal controls, and driving financial excellence through accurate reporting, analysis, and operational support.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong technical accounting knowledge, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for developing high-performing teams. This is an on-property leadership role within a Hyatt-managed hotel, offering the opportunity to make a direct impact on daily operations, team development, and overall commercial success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    Prepare, review, and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end reports.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    Review preliminary financial statements and financial results with the Controller.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    Analyze financial variances and partner with department leaders to provide meaningful explanations and recommendations.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    Support financial forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Accounting Operations:
    Oversee daily accounting functions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Accounting Operations:
    Manage general ledger activity and maintain the integrity of financial records.
  • Accounting Operations:
    Assist with monthly close processes, inventory controls, cash management, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Accounting Operations:
    Support system administration and ensure effective utilization of financial systems.

    Help oversee compliance with Hyatt policies, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.

    Monitor processes to ensure proper fiscal management and safeguard company assets.

    Support internal and external audits, including preparation of work papers and responses to auditor requests.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in Hospitality Management, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment.
  • Previous experience supervising, coaching, and developing accounting team members.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Experience supporting SOX compliance initiatives and audit processes preferred.
