Public Accounting, Tax Accountant, Financial Reporting, Tax Manager
Senior Tax Associate
Fort Worth, TX
$85,000 to $110,000
If you want more than just compliance work, this is where things start to get more interesting.
There's a point in a public accounting career that doesn't get talked about enough. You've put in the work. You know the returns. You're technically solid across individuals and businesses and you're not guessing anymore. By most measures you're ready for more. But the more interesting work, the planning conversations, the consulting projects, the client discussions that actually require judgment rather than just process, still seems to sit just out of reach.
A level above you. A conversation you're not quite in yet. And you start wondering how long that's going to be the case.
This independent CPA firm in Fort Worth, TX is growing in a way that shortens that wait considerably. Not by adding headcount for the sake of it, but by genuinely building out a broader mix of tax planning, consulting, and year round advisory work alongside the core compliance piece. That deliberate approach creates real opportunities for someone at Senior level to get involved in more interesting work now rather than spending another year or two waiting for it to filter down.
The fundamentals still matter here and they'll expect them. But you won't be stuck preparing returns while the better conversations happen somewhere above you. You'll be closer to the clients, closer to the advisory side, and in a genuinely stronger position to grow into a broader role as your career develops. For someone who wants the next few years to actually open up rather than just repeat, that's a real and meaningful difference.
Timing is on your side too. Joining over the summer means you settle in properly, build real relationships with the team and clients, and walk into the fall deadlines feeling prepared and established rather than still getting your bearings.
Why this role stands out:
A growing mix of planning, consulting, and compliance work so you're building broadly, not stuck in one lane
Real advisory exposure earlier in your career than most Senior roles would give you
Direct access to experienced leaders and genuine involvement in client discussions
A firm growing thoughtfully with purpose, not just chasing volume
A clear and realistic path toward Manager level as your experience and confidence builds
What you'll be doing:
Preparing and reviewing federal and state tax returns for individuals and closely held businesses
Working across 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120S returns
Supporting Managers and Partners on planning and consulting projects
Researching technical issues and working through more complex client scenarios
Communicating directly with clients to gather information and keep work moving
Supporting junior staff and helping maintain quality across engagements
Managing deadlines across multiple client assignments
What they're looking for:
Public accounting tax experience at Associate or Senior Associate level
Strong experience preparing returns across individuals and business entities
A solid technical foundation and a genuine drive to keep improving
Someone who wants real exposure to planning and consulting work, not just compliance
Comfortable communicating with clients and taking real ownership of their work
CPA or EA, or actively working toward it, preferred
