Our client is a small-mid size business and growing thru acquisitions. This Accounting Manager will have a track for promotion and platform to grow their career while working with a tremendous leadership team and mentors.
Position SummaryThe Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's daily accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This position will manage the monthly close process, supervise team of 3-5, maintain internal controls, and partner with operational leaders and administrators at site locations.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience multi-location accounting.
Key Responsibilities- Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and cash management.
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, account reconciliations, and management reports.
- Ensure accurate inventory accounting and reconciliation of trailer and parts inventory.
- Monitor sales tax compliance and coordinate multi-state sales tax reporting.
- Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies.
- Coordinate annual audits and work with external auditors, tax professionals, and financial institutions.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop members of the accounting team.
- Partner with operations, sales, and service managers to improve financial performance and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, automation, and operational efficiencies.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Min 3 years of progressive public audit or corporate accounting experience
- Previous supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Experience with accrual basis accounting principles - Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP software
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines
Preferred
- Experience in retail or distribution industries (multi‑entity businesses)
- Knowledge of sales tax compliance across multiple states
- Experience with inventory management systems and DMS/ERP software
