Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller support the financial operations of a growing, multi-entity organization. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting project accounting, assisting with consolidations, and partnering with operational leaders to provide meaningful financial insight. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Sage Intacct, project accounting, and multi-entity financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Maintain the general ledger across multiple legal entities.
- Support project accounting by monitoring job costs, work-in-progress (WIP), revenue recognition, and project profitability.
- Assist with consolidating financial statements for multiple companies.
- Review and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
- Partner with operations leaders to improve financial reporting and project performance.
- Develop and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Support external audits and tax preparation.
- Assist with acquisition integrations and process standardization across business units.
- Mentor and support accounting staff as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience in construction, contracting, or project-based service industries strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of:
- Project accounting
- Job costing
- Percentage-of-completion accounting
- Work-in-progress (WIP) reporting
- Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct required.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
- INDEX/MATCH
- SUMIFS
- Data analysis
- Experience with multi-entity accounting and financial consolidations.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- Experience supporting multiple operating companies.
