Position OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic accounting leader to oversee the full-cycle accounting function across multiple entities. This role is responsible for driving accurate financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, supporting construction job costing, and leading a high-performing accounting team. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with strong leadership, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Close Process- Lead and manage the monthly and annual close process for all company entities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Prepare and distribute comprehensive monthly financial statement packages
- Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and P&L fluctuation analyses to identify trends and discrepancies
- Maintain accurate general ledger activity and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
- Oversee and maintain monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules
- Manage fixed asset records within the ERP system
- Maintain bank note schedules and perform reconciliations
- Oversee job costing processes to ensure accurate project financial tracking
- Support Project Managers with job cost projections and financial analysis
- Prepare and manage pre-lien filings for construction projects
- Maintain oversight of billing cycles, lien waivers, and collections
- Manage AR deposits and ensure accurate recording within the ERP system
- Monitor receivables and proactively drive collections efforts
- Oversee payroll functions to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Serve as the primary internal contact for annual audits and provide support as needed
- Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team
- Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and trust across departments
- Continuously improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; an equivalent combination of advanced experience and education will be considered
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience within the construction industry, with strong expertise in job costing and WIP reporting
- At least 5 years of leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams; prior experience as a Controller strongly preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in Viewpoint Vista ERP or other Construction ERP systems, with the ability to leverage system capabilities to drive reporting accuracy and operational efficiency
- Deep understanding of construction accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer and performing detailed accounting tasks
- Occasional movement within the office environment, including bending, reaching, and filing documents
- Ability to lift and transport materials weighing up to 15 pounds as needed
