Next Step Recruiting is partnering with a confidential oil and gas client to identify a Cost Accountant for its Fort Worth office. This role offers broad exposure across Accounting, Engineering, Land, and senior leadership within a lean operating environment. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and interested in building deeper oil and gas accounting experience.
Responsibilities- Analyze operational data and prepare monthly journal entries to allocate costs across multiple assets
- Develop, maintain, and improve cost allocation processes and accounting support schedules
- Support month-end, year-end, and partner audit activities, including AFE setup and maintenance
- Assist with tracking company assets, inventory, and related billing activity
- Partner with engineering and other internal teams to interpret accounting data and support business decisions
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience within the oil & gas industry
- Strong Excel skills with the ability to learn industry-specific accounting systems
- Knowledge of cost allocations, AFEs, operational expenses, and month-end accounting processes
- Self-motivated with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
