Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a construction-focused team in Fort Worth, Texas. This position plays a key role in managing invoice and payment activity, keeping financial records accurate, and supporting timely accounting operations across active projects. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling a high volume of transactions, coordinating with vendors and project teams, and maintaining accuracy in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

- Review and process vendor invoices, subcontractor billings, and employee expense submissions with a high degree of accuracy.

- Verify charges against purchase orders, budgets, and job cost allocations to ensure proper coding and approval.

- Coordinate routine payment cycles, including weekly check runs and electronic disbursements, while meeting internal deadlines.

- Reconcile vendor account statements, investigate mismatches, and resolve billing issues in partnership with internal teams and external suppliers.

- Maintain organized financial documentation and update payment records to support audit readiness and day-to-day accounting visibility.

- Assist with month-end accounting tasks by preparing supporting schedules, reviewing account activity, and helping ensure complete transaction posting.

- Communicate with project managers, vendors, and accounting personnel to provide updates on invoice status, payment timing, and outstanding issues. Requirements - At least 5 years of accounts payable or related accounting experience, ideally within the construction or contractor industry.

- Working knowledge of job costing principles and experience aligning invoices with purchase orders and project-related expenses.

- Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting or enterprise resource planning systems.

- Experience preparing journal entries and working with general ledger transactions.

- Understanding of accounts payable processes within a construction accounting environment.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain organized records.

- Effective communication skills for working with vendors, project teams, and internal accounting stakeholders.
