- Project Assessment:
Review and analyze project specifications, blueprints, and proposals to determine scope and requirements for commercial roofing projects. - Site Visits:
Conduct site evaluations to gather necessary measurements and data for accurate estimating. - Cost Estimation:
Calculate material, labor, and equipment costs to develop comprehensive and competitive project bids. - Proposal Preparation:
Prepare detailed and clear proposals for clients, ensuring all specifications and costs are accurately represented. - Client Interaction:
Engage with clients to discuss project needs, answer questions, and ensure a positive and informed experience throughout the estimating process. - Vendor Liaison:
Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and material information crucial for estimating. - Market Analysis:
Stay informed about industry trends, costs, and innovations to maintain competitive and up-to-date estimating practices.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial roofing estimation
- Extensive knowledge of commercial roofing systems, materials, construction processes, and theories
- Proficiency Edge or Bluebeam software
- Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to make accurate judgments and decisions
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- A thorough understanding of the commercial construction industry, including the various stages of construction projects, from design to completion
- Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle unexpected situations effectively
- Knowledge of safety and legal documentation procedures for the construction industry
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- This role is pivotal in our commercial construction operations, focusing on the estimation of commercial roofing projects
- The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for commercial roofing projects by analyzing the plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation
- This role requires a deep understanding of roofing materials, labor costs, and the ability to use takeoff software efficiently
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other construction documents to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
- Review data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists necessary for commercial roofing projects
- Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost-effectiveness
- Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hours and related cost data or to effect cost reduction
- Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
- Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
- Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
- Establish and maintain a tendering process, and conduct negotiations
